"Here's to the risk-takers. The ones who seek adventure. The people who never give up and never back down. The ones who stand up for what's right and fight for what they want. Here's to the brave; the ones that follow their goals despite the naysayers. The ones who know life is short and don't just chase their dreams, but make them reality."
-Jordan Sarah Weatherhead

Listening to WRCJ-fm Detorit...
Episode 419 Perilous

You mention walking the foothills.. .I grew up on a foothill, not a very tall one but we had three of them that made up the farm I grew up on.

That was in a little town called Tekonsha near the bottom of Southern MI right about dead Center..

And then you played music by the Brass Band of Battle Creek.

After setting a new record for "youngest person ever to graduate" from Rose D Warrick High (Tekonsha public schools, by 3 months) I went to Kellogg Community College... In Battle Creek.... Of course.

It was not till years later however that I "Discovered" Band music You see I have a daughter... She plays flute... She wanted to go above and beyond so she saved her pennies and we sent here to Blue Lake Fine Arts camp.. There were something like 40 other young ladies with flutes.. SHE.. took 2nd chair.. and went back for the Summer international touir with the band.. 1st chair.. and then on to Wayne State University (Back to 2nd chair) with thier Band

Sometimes it's a "Wind Symphony" sometimes a "Symphonic Band" but whatever you call it the music is EXCITING... I like classial orchesterial music. but The Bands.... Well.. They get the blood moving.

What was more fun... That summer international tour.. Well I recordced the Concerts she played in at Blue Lake,, They did a 2nd "Mini tour" around Michigan.. Starting in Port Huron. SO I had to drive her to Port Huron (From Detroit, not far) and then while they rehearsed I did some work on my car and visisted a local store or 3... When I picked her up for lunch I was playing the last concert they did at Blue Lake,, and kids were coming up to the car "That's Me, That's my Solo" .. A very good day.. Back then I recorede all her concerts. Alas She moved in one direction, I in another, so I can't do that so much now.. BUT.. I'll have a new motor in the motor home soon (Next month if all goes well) and thus,, I can move in her direction once again.. She really is good at "Tooting her own flute".

Blue lake Public Radio records concerts from the international groups at least... (I have a couple CDs) you might wish to contact Blue Lake FAC and see about some of those recordings.

I can tell you, average age on the stage is Teens.. But the music.> Stunning (At least the Wind Symphony)
