Italy is rich with culture, cuisine, and landmarks, many stretching back centuries of human history. The ruins of Pompeii, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pantheon, the Colesseum, to name just a few, contrast with the living cities, like Florence, Venice, Rome, and Milan. Visiting the wealth of sights, sounds, and tastes of Italy can be a moving experience.
Composers have used these influences to create wonderfully imaginative music. This week on Wind & Rhythm, we sample a bit of Italy through wind band music. Goditi la musica!
