Episode 235: The Three Bees

It’s important to look to your roots fairly often. In the wind band world, we have so much to celebrate in the present that looking back 330 years to music that was written in the Baroque period sometimes doesn’t get the attention it deserves. All of our string ensemble friends are much more at home with Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. It is the heart of their repertoire and it makes up a crucial component of what you hear on classical programming. The truth is, here at the gathering place for people who love band music, there are a lot of works written by the “Three Bees” in our repertoire as well. This week on Wind & Rhythm we’ll revisit our roots.

Suite #3 - Air "On The G String": Johann Sebastian Bach
      Canadian Brass
Fugue In G Minor - The Little: Johann Sebastion Bach
Texas A&M University Wind Symphony, Timothy Rhea
Come Sweet Death: Johann Sebastion Bach
Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble, Joseph Missal

      Fodens Band, Russell Gray
