Episode 172: A Brass Band Breakfast

Traveling overseas is an adventure that I really enjoy. But, you really need to be prepared... things aren’t the same. Breakfast for example. Here in the states, we grew up with Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and over in northern England, they might have Bubble and Squeak on the menu. And if you are uncomfortable trying new and strangely named food, you’ll be in trouble overseas.

This week on Wind and Rhythm, we’ll explore two contrasting bands... one from the home of Bubble and Squeak (that would be Queensbury in the U.K.) and Corn Flakes from Battle Creek, Michigan.

`Tales Of Hoffman`: Barcarolle: J. Offenbach, Arr. Gordon Langford

Black Dyke Mills Band, John Foster

Paganini Variations (1991) For Brass Band and Organ: Philip Wilby

      Black Dyke Band, Nicholas Childs

The Planets, Op. 32 - Jupiter: Gustav Holst/Roberts

      Black Dyke Band, Nicholas Childs

American Salute: Gould/Maldonado

Brass Band Of Battle Creek, Constantine Kitsopoulos

Harmony Music: Philip Sparke

      Brass Band Of Battle Creek

Hoedown: Copland/Snell

Brass Band Of Battle Creek, Constantine Kitsopoulos

Barnum Bailey's Favorite March: Karl King
