There is an fort on Mackinac Island in the straits between the lower and upper peninsulas of Michigan that was one of the many points of conflict in the War of 1812. Taking a trip to Mackinac Island today will transport you back to the early 19th century and you can tour that fort and imagine a conflict with canon and Indians... just one of many historical sites around our country that mark the last time we were at war with the British.
