180: Dallas Premier
Sunday, April 1, 2012
This story begins in August of 2008. Wind and Rhythm was on the drawing board. All we had was a test website, I hadn’t even produced the first episode and I wanted to start with something I didn’t have in my library. There was a new recording of Crown Imperial by the Dallas Wind Symphony and I wanted to have it on the show. When I called to ask for a copy, something wonderful happened.
Jerry Junkin, the artistic director and Kim Campbell, the executive director of the Dallas Wind Symphony were welcoming in ways that I hadn’t imagined. I was immediately invited to a recording session - and they were recording an album of Percy Grainger one of my favorite composers. It was an amazing time and the relationships forged at that time has been the touch point for our premier in Dallas!
